Steptoe and Son
Steptoe and Son is a British sitcom written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson about a Dad and Boy played with Wilfred Brambell and Harry H. Corbett who deal in selling Useful items. They live also a literary street in Shepherd's Bush, on Oil Drum Lane . Four series were broadcast by the BBC in 1962 to 1965, followed by another run from 1970 to 1974. Its theme song,"Old Ned", was written by Ron Grainer. The series was voted 15th in a 2004 BBC poll to find Britain's Best Sitcom. It was remade from the United States as Stiefbeen en zoon, in Sweden as both Albert & Herbert and in the Netherlands since Sanford and Son. With another Steptoe and Son Ride Again in 1973 a picture version of this set, Steptoe and Son, was released Back in 1972.
The series focussed on father and son's battle. Albert Steptoe, a"dirty old man", is an old man and bone man, place in his grimy and grasping ways. In comparison his son Harold is full of societal aspirations, to not mention pretensions. As Harold was always prevented from achieving his ambitions, the show contained elements of tragedy and drama. Although both performers were attracted to functions as an outcome For the end the show was unusual for casting actors instead of comedians in its lead roles.
