Big Fat Gypsy Weddings
Big Fat Gypsy Weddings is a British documentary series broadcast on Channel 4, so that explores traditions and the lifestyles of several Irish Traveller families as they prepare to unite one of their number. The series featured Romanichal in several episodes, also has been criticised for not representing community and England's Romani. It filmed as part of the Innovative series, was broadcast in February 2010 as an one time documentary called My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and voted Groundbreaking Prove from the Cultural Diversity Awards 2010. A string of five episodes were commissioned, and the series aired in January 2011. A series started broadcasting in February 2012. A third series will not be made, rather than the show will probably end using six specials.
Back in the United States, the show airs on TLC under the name My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, using all the original narration by Barbara Flynn substituted by Ellen K., although the TLC network began airing a spinoff featuring American Roma called My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding.
