Alone
Maria, whose parents still reside in the country, decides that she can no longer put up with her father's autocratic behavior and relocates to the city. She gets a job as a cleaner and struggles to make ends meet in a deplorable apartment located in a run-down neighborhood of a large metropolis. She is expecting a child, and the fact that her partner has broken off their relationship does not help her situation at all. Her mother comes to be with her while her father is recovering from surgery, which requires him to be in the hospital. Her neighbor, an old recluse whose only companion is his dog, begins to come out of his shell, and these three forlorn souls try to give each other the strength to start again by giving each other the support and encouragement they need.
